Well, for one thing, there will be music — just like last week, an Acoustic Jam will be held at the market from 10 am to noon. Anybody is welcome to bring an instrument and a chair and join in! The jam will be held in a tent at the south central entrance to the Turner Pavilion, and hosted by Richard and Kathleen Pantaleo.
We also will have some exciting new produce! Peaches, sweet corn and tomatoes have all arrived at the market, meaning that it must really be summer now (even though today’s cool, cloudy weather doesn’t seem too summery). Of course, that’s not all we’ll have…
Want some fresh, healthy and delicious (not to mention local and eco-friendly!) vegetables? Along with corn and tomatoes, we’ll have peas, cucumbers, onions, beets, carrots, kale, chard, zucchini, squash and squash flowers, potatoes, garlic, green beans, radishes, and some amazing fresh greens and salad mixes. The salad mixes at the market are every bit as convenient as the pre-bagged stuff at the grocery market, but so fresh and delicious — toss in some grape tomatoes, radishes, cukes and carrots for what might be the perfect side dish.
Fruit? We’ve got blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, gooseberries and the aforementioned peaches… visions of cobblers, anybody?
And, of course, the market is about much more than produce. There’s meat, eggs and goats- or cows-milk cheeses (and butter and yogurt!). There’s fresh-baked artisan breads and baked goods from donuts to tarts. We’ve got soups, quiches, sorbets, sno cones, and hot, freshly cooked foods to enjoy while you shop. Coffee, in beans or by the cup, jams and jellies, herbs and teas, plants ready to be put in a garden or on a patio, and craft and gift items including candles, soap, cards and jewelry… And that’s just for starters!
If you haven’t had a chance to visit our pavilion this summer, stop by this weekend! George Hirschmann says there’s a chance of rain this Saturday, but between our sturdy roof and the tents of the overflow vendors, the market’s staying pretty dry these days. We’ll have music, fresh food and drinks, produce and products for the whole family and great company. We’d love to have you!
